Apple has added a new “repair assistant” to iOS 18, the latest update of compatible iPhones to better help users manage the actual parts when repairing your phone.
Macrumors, which was first announced in the back of April, has since revealed more details about the tool. With the “assistant” repair, users can now real parts such as display, battery, camera module and more, iPhone itself or third -party repair provider. Previously, Apple has processed this step of the repair process, but iOS 18 allows users to complete a step solo. Apple says that the “repair assistant” only works with the iPhone 12 and later.
In addition, iOS 18 allows users to check any Goong spare parts Settings > O > Parts and services.
This update is full of new features, included the ability to adapt your home screen with icons of dark applications, as well as the ability to place your applications anywhere. iOS 18 is to be released today for a compatible iPhone.
In victory for all, especially for retail workers
In what feels like a previous life, I worked as a technical support for a telephone store and repairing software from We run smartphones and tablets. Customers would often bring iPhones that could not be corrected in place. In these boxes we had to send the handset for diagnostics through the store repair program. Once the technician looked at the iPhone, we would get an offer to repair. If the customer accepts it, the device would be fixed – but the whole process would take at least three weeks.
Being without a device like an iPhone is frustrating, especially when used for work. From experience I can say that retail staff often carried the onslaught of frustration from customers with these long turnover times.
Now, with the “repair assistant” in iOS 18, this frustration usually becomes a thing of the past. Customers will have more flexibility to repair their phones, as third -party repaired will be able to look at the actual part without having to send the device to Apple. This reduces the risk of compatibility with parts and saves precious time for the customer.
Finally, this new change benefits everyone. Customers will enjoy faster repairs and retail workers can lead them to local services – or, if comfortable, customers can buy customers and try to repair themselves.
